Early selection in progenies ofMyracrodruon urundeuvaFr. All. by methodology reml/blup

Brazil is one of the richest countries in natural resources and its flora is marked by a great diversity of species that are major sources of genetic resources, and if used properly, can bring socio-economic benefits for the country. In this context this study aims to estimate genetic parameters and values in progenies of aroeiraverdadeira (M. urundeuva Fr. All. Br) at two years of age, assessing growth traits, generating information for the breeding program of the species in the municipality of Santo Antonio de Leverger, Mato Grosso state, Brazil. The experimental design was randomized blocks with 30 treatments (progenies), six replicates (blocks) and six plants per plot with a spacing of 3 x 2 m in lines. The estimates of parameters and breeding values were obtained by the software Selegen REML / BLUP called genetic-statistical. It was estimated values for individual coefficients of heritability in the narrow sense of 0.0348 for height, diameter for 0.0252 and 0.0126 for survival. The progenies 4, 8, 17, 20 and 21 occur in the top ten individuals in relation to more than one character (height and diameter) and can thus be regarded as the best overall because they are most promising for a more than one trait. Despite the early age of the population, the figures indicated the possibility of genetic gains over the course of the assessments with older ages.
