Localization of radio emitters by wideband compressive sampling

This paper proposes a method for radio frequency transmitters localization, that exploits Compressive Sampling (CS) to relax the requirements of the data rate from the sensor units to the control center. The method is composed by two steps: in the former one, the receivers acquire wideband signals in the observation band by Non-Uniform Sampling and send the acquired samples to the control center; in the latter, the control center reconstructs the spectra for each of the receivers and evaluates the position of the transmitter by multilateration. The mathematical model, describing the measurement procedure is presented and the obtained results from simulation tests are reported. Herein, the estimated error vector magnitude (EVM) values for localizing three RF transmitters, are discussed. Furthermore, all the simulations consider two geometrical configurations for the sensors placement, square and L.
