The technical and economic benefits of centrifugal reverse osmosis desalination

Abstract The performance of the 3000 USGPD prototype and the projected performance of larger scale plants confirms the potential benefits of centrifugal reverse osmosis: reduced energy consumption, improved reliability, lower levels of noise and vibration, and reduced requirements for pretreatment. The prototype unit is installed and operated on board a Canadian Navy vessel. Designs for larger systems have been developed and are awaiting opportunities for implementation. The future for this technology looks very bright.
