Evolution of Business System Analysis Techniques

Until very recently, the evolution of business system analysis lagged hardware evolution by one full generation. During the first generation of business-oriented computers, in the 1950s, system analysts continued to use unit record-oriented analysis and design techniques. Between 1960 and 1970, computer.oriented techniques for system analysis were developed. The gap has narrowed to hMf a generation. Third generation techniques began to emerge six years after the first installation of third generation computers. The evolution of techniques for business system analysis is described, with emphasis on the requirements of new techniques to handle the complicated business systems of today.
