YARN HAIRINESS: A FURTHER UPDATE

The present monograph continues the series on yam hairiness initiated by one of the present authors in 1966. The most relevant recent items in this series are by Barella [1,2] and Barella and Manich [3]. The last monograph covers the most relevant advances up to 1994, but, in the last six years, some important work has been carried out in the field of hairiness measurement as well as in the development of new spinning processes. This monograph is intended to bring up to date information on the most significant improvements in the measuring methods and on the reduction and control of yam hairiness in the course of the spinning processes. Reference will also be made to such post-spinning processes as steaming, winding, twisting and doubling, singeing, sizing, weaving, knitting, and apparel manufacture.
