DOES RUNNING FOR THE SAME PARTY IMPLY SIMILAR POLICY PREFERENCES? EVIDENCE FROM VOTING ADVICE APPLICATIONS

Parties are usually seen as unitary and cohesive bodies. In this article we explore the extent to which this is the case also among party candidates. Using candidates' answers to policy questions from voting advice applications from the 2011 Danish general election we find that while it depends both on the party and on the policy issue generally parties are incohesive.
