THE IMPACT OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT DEREGULATION ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TECHNOLOGY PASSENGER INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Within DRIVE, the QUARTET project is one of the few in which the development of new technology public transport information systems is affected by the deregulation of public transport which had been implemented in the U.K. in 1986. This paper describes the problems posed by deregulation and the influence which this has had on the design of the systems to be implemented in Birmingham.
