Numerical Accuracy in RANS Computations of High-Lift Multi-element Airfoil and Aicraft Configurations

This paper presents the application of high-order finite volume methods in conjunction with unstructured grids for aeronautical flows. The numerical schemes comprise the Monotone-Upstream Central Scheme for Conservation Laws (MUSCL) and the Weighted Essentially Non-Oscillatory (WENO) scheme for mixed-element unstructured grids in two and three space dimensions. The aim of the present work is to assess the accuracy and efficiency of the above schemes in Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes computations of external flows around a high-lift device and an aircraft configuration at landing conditions.
