The effect of intravenous urea on cerebrospinal fluid pressure in monkeys.

In the course of experimental work initially undertaken to determine the value of various hypertonic solutions in experimental neurosurgery, the possibility of using urea for this purpose was investigated. The drug proved so effective, and lowered cerebrospinal fluid pressure so dramatically as compared with the agents ordinarily used (i.e., 50% glucose and 50% sucrose) that we found it desirable to prepare the present report.
