Joint transform correlator-based optical cryptosystem with innovative arrangement of input

Abstract Speckle noise is a common issue in optical encryption domain. In this paper, by introducing two complementary checkerboard distributions, we demonstrate an innovative arrangement of input to reduce speckle noise in joint transform correlator (JTC)-based optical cryptosystem. No increase of hardware and complexity in the optical implementation of our proposal. The proposal can effectively improve the quality of reconstructed object and take full advantage of space in input plane. Furthermore, our proposal makes it possible to achieve level-to-level administration of keys, which can be used to implement multiuser authentication in practical application.
