Data Directed Estimation Based Turbo Equalization in HF Communication

A block turbo equalization algorithm is proposed, which is generalized from Data Directed Estimation (DDE) widely used in HF communications. The convergence rate of our block turbo equalization algorithm is faster than that of the linear MMSE turbo equalizations. Two simplified schemes of this block turbo equalization algorithm are also introduced, which is LC-TDDE algorithm and BSIC algorithm respectively. The LC-TDDE algorithm performs better than linear MMSE algorithm, while its complexity is proportional to the square of the length of data block, the BSIC algorithm possesses a linear complexity with a performance very close to the linear MMSE algorithms.
