Enhancement of man-machine communication: the human use of inhuman beings

The enhancement of man-machine communication is introduced by reviewing some aspects of the social impact of computer technology. It is argued that worries that computers will be a dehumanizing influence on everyday life can be partially alleviated by better design of the human interface to the technology. Examples of humans perceptual and motor limitation are cited to show how specific understanding of these limitations can determine ways that computers can be used to enhance man-machine communication.<<ETX>>
