An efficient QoS-based scheduling algorithm for MIMO wireless systems

This paper investigates the quality of service (QoS) differentiation that can be provided for a system with multi single-antenna users and multi-antenna base station. Based on a TDMA/SDMA access system, a new scheduling algorithm is proposed and analyzed in order to provide QoS guarantee for real-time connections and high average performances for non- real-time ones. The real-time connections are guaranteed a certain data rate and a certain waiting delay violation probability while the non-real-time ones have no QoS guarantee (best effort). Since the wireless channel state is dependant on time and on space, the scheduling algorithm prioritize the real-time users according to their corresponding QoS demands and then selects co-slot users in function of the channel state and users priorities.
