Modelling location and sizing of offshore platforms

Abstract We recently proposed to model location and sizing of offshore platforms for oil exploration and production as a multicapacitated plant location problem. We show that an adequate choice of coefficients allows the use of this model for simultaneous location, sizing of platforms and selection of wells to be drilled. Moreover, applying it several times in sequence allows minimization of a cost per barrel of oil produced criterion.
