Treatment optimization for contact surfaces between a sliding-friction couple

The authors examine a method for optimization of surface treatment for components of submersible pumps, using the spectral theory of stationary random processes. They present a system of equations whereby they can obtain a computer-calculated representation of the amplitude-frequency characteristics of the microprofile formation processes during finish hardening treatment. They find a satisfactory convergence of computed and experimental results, and conclude that the closer the amplitudefrequency characteristics of the models of surface-microprofile formation during treatment and operation, the more effective will be the optimization.
