Passive Radar using non-electronic steering surveillance Radar as source

Various sources of illuminators can be used as source for Passive Radar. In this paper we examine the use a non electronic steering surveillance Radar as source. A technique is devised to use a single receive station in bistatic configuration to obtain 2D information of targets. We propose a low cost commercial SDR and workstation based solution for prototyping the Radar. Preliminary results obtained using the prototype setup which detects commercial aircrafts in excess of 80 kms is presented.
