A Development of AR Calligraphy Skill Training System Using Dynamic Font

In this paper, we develop a system for training human calligraphy skills. For such a development, the so-called dynamic font and augmented reality (AR) are employed. The dynamic font is used to generate a model character, in which the character are formed as the result of 3-dimensional motion of a virtual writing device on a virtual writing plane. Using the AR technology, we then produce a visual information consisting of not only static writing path but also dynamic writing process of model character. Such a visual information of model character is given some trainee through a head mounted display. The performance is demonstrated by some experimental studies.
