COMPARISON OF FRINGE MULTIPLICATION AND TARDY COMPENSATION METHODS FOR A FROZEN STRESS INVESTIGATION

Summary A practical application of the fringe multiplication method is described. Using techniques reported by Post, the method was found to be convenient and less time consuming than the normal Tardy compensation technique which was used as a comparison. For the cases studied it was found that fringe multiplications of 7x gave equivalent fringe order distributions to the Tardy technique.
