Study on English Translation of Chinese Poems from the Perspective of Optimal Relevance

The relevance theory holds that,the kernel relationship between the source language text and the target language text is that of interpretive resemblance,which consists of explicatures and implicatures.A translator usually needs to explicate the implicit information in the translated text in hoping of giving the readers of the translated text the most relevant contextual premises.Yet in translating poems,those implicatures need not to be explicated as that is where poetic effect lies.The ancient Chinese poem always employed the most concise language to express the most complicated emotions.
