A mobile terminal and a communication method thereof are provided to enhance user convenience by performing communication with a network selected by user input among plural available networks. A display unit(151) displays currently-available networks, and a user input unit(130) inputs a selection signal of a specific network among the available networks. A controller(180) controls the communication through the selected network, and scans the available network based on the current position of the mobile terminal. A wireless communication unit(110) performs communication through the selected network under the control from the controller.
