The invention provides a television system with an extension set, which comprises a host and at least one extension set, wherein the host comprises a processor, a video processing module, an audio processing module and a wireless receiving and sending module, the extension set comprises a wireless receiving and sending module and a storage module, after the host and the extension set build the connection through the wireless receiving and sending modules, the storage module of the extension set is shared to the host to carry out data storage, and the host also plays audio and video files provided by the extension set through the video processing module and the audio processing module. The television system with the extension set and a control method thereof have the advantages that the host and the extension set can build the connection through the wireless receiving and sending modules so that the extension set shares the storage module to the host, the host can also play the audio and video files stored in the extension set, and in addition, the functions such as video conversation, internet surfing and the like can also be realized on a platform of an extension set operator.
