SNS Agency Robot for Elderly People Realizing Rich Media Communication

We demonstrate a rich media communication type SNS Agency Robot that can be used for the interactive communication between elderly people and younger generation via existing Social Networking Service (SNS). This robot system has been implemented on a cloud service and a human-type robot, which is equipped with a microphone, camera, speaker, projector, and network access function named RoBoHoN produced by Sharp corporation in Japan, so that elderly people can transmit and receive video message via SNS without using smartphones. We employed LINE that is a proprietary application for instant communications on electronic devices such as smartphones. We developed the prototype system including the LINE message (text and video) exchange function and RoBoHoN application interface on Amazon Web Services based on the service-oriented architecture. We will show the effectiveness of the rich media communication type SNS Agency Robot through the demonstration.
