A SYSTEMATIC METHOD FOR PLANNING IN-SERVICE INSPECTION OF STEEL OFFSHORE STRUCTURES

The general principles for in-service inspection planning of steel offshore platforms are reviewed. A systematic method for optimisation of in-service inspection has been developed at Det norske Veritas. the method is based on probabilistic analysis combined with a resource allocation technique. This mathematical model is used for planning inspection for steel platforms in the North Sea with respect to gross errors, accidental effects, fatigue and corrosion.
