The applications of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete in Civil Engineering are increasing at a fast pace today, after many years devoted to testing and modeling, aimed at understanding the full potential of this material. In the present paper a number of applications of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete are presented and discussed (slabs-on-ground, precast slabs, panels, R/C beams, thinwalled roof elements and tunnel segments), and the usefulness of the fibrous reinforcement is clarified by examining the results of full-scale tests and of numerical modeling, the latter on the basis of Nonlinear Fracture Mechanics (NLFM). The success of these applications show also that in most cases a proper approach should be adopted in structural design with Fiber-Reinforced Concrete.
