Simulation of Bridge Damage under Impact Load

A head-on collision process between a 5 000 t rigid ball at the speed of 5 m/s and a concrete bridge is simulated by using the nonlinear finite element analysis software MSC/Dytran.The collision force,the damage of the bridge and the stress process of the bridge pier can be displayed.Based on the analysis of the impact process,the necessity of protection system is proposed.
