Maximum power tracking robust control for direct-drive permanent magnet wind turbine generator

In this paper, the maximum power tracking control problem is investigated for direct-drive permanent-magnet wind turbine generator under consideration of the system parameter uncertainty and external disturbance.A robust tracking controller is designed by utilizing the field-oriented vector of the rotor and nonlinear robust backstepping control technology, which regulates the rotor speed of wind turbine and generator by adjusting stator current of the torque component to achieve the maximal absorption of wind power and stable operation. Both the theoretical analysis and simulation illustration show that regardless of variable windspeed, uncertain parameters and external disturbance, the proposed controller can guarantee the wind power system to achieve the maximal extraction of wind power on the secure and stable operation.
