Distributed finite elements optimal structural design on between microcomputers—A new expert system tool

Abstract The present paper is meant to suggest and focus the attention on a new application of the distributed decision tree approach to expert systems within the area of finite elements optimal structural design. The application can be defined in connection with the proposed computational model of distributed finite elements optimal structural design with stress, displacement, buckling, natural frequency and flutter constraints. The model can run on separate microcomputers of a microcomputer network. The paper studies the organisation of the computational model and the distributed language requirements. Consequently, the problem at hand spans over two different disciplines: computer science (the computational model and algorithm) and finite elements multi-constraints optimal structural design.
