Selection of Building Designs and Building Components

Designers must make many choices in planning a building, ranging from global building design to detailed selections of mechanical systems and furnishings. The first case study illustrates the use of LCC, NS, SIR (applied incrementally), and sensitivity analysis to evaluate the choice of alternative building designs. The second case study illustrates the use of NB and decision analysis to decide which package of retrofit designs for energy conservation is economically preferred.
