An Advanced Kick Simulator for High Angle and Horizontal Wells - Part II

This paper present additional simulation results of gas kicks in high angle and horizontal wells using the advanced kick simulator described in Part I. The authors place emphasis on the removal of gas bubbles from three potential traps in a horizontal well, i.e., (1) upward inclined section, (2) local tops in the trajectory, and (3) washout sections. Operational implications are also discussed based on the simulation results. The critical parameters are noted for operational considerations. Full scale gas kick experiments in horizontal wells have been performed. They will discuss the experimental set up and test parameters. The test data are being analyzed.
