Underwater Testbed for Molecular Communication

Conventional communication paradigms, which are electromagnetic, optic or sonar communications are widely used by the reason of reliability and efficiency. Although there are some drawbacks of these paradigms in underwater communication such as reliability issues and limited range due to propagation loss. As an alternative solution to underwater communication, molecular communication is proposed. In this paper, water channel testbed for molecular communications is introduced. This testbed contains a water channel, water tanks, a circulation pump, information molecules, molecule emitter, molecule filters, laser, high resolution programmable cameras, chemical sensors, synchronization unit between camera, laser, and a computer.
