The automatic measurement device comprises a microcontroller, a gyro accelerometer module, a triaxial digital compass module, a laser correction module, a direct current motor driving module, a left/right direct current motor, a left/right decoder, an ultrasonic wave obstacle avoidance module and a Bluetooth communication module, wherein the left/right direct current motor and the left/right decoder are mounted coaxially. According to the automatic measurement device and method disclosed by the embodiment of the invention, by utilizing a scheme of combining strapdown inertial navigation with the decoder and laser ranging data for correction, the navigation and location of an automatic walking trolley can be realized; and meanwhile, a traditional manual stationing test mode and a traditional lane close-testing mode are replaced, so that the measurement safety and efficiency are improved, potential safety hazards are avoided, and significant influences caused to the traffic are avoided.
