Flow Event Structures and Flow Nets

In this paper we investigate the relationships between two models for concurrent computations, namely Petri nets and Winskel's event structures. A distinctive feature of these models, with respect to transition systems used in the so-called interleaving semantics, is that they provide an adequate account of the causa/relations between events in a distributed system. At least this is true for event structures, if not as clear for Petri nets. For instance in the net
