Topological Economy and Reliability Analysis of the MTDC System with Renewable Energy

With its unique advantages, multi-terminal direct current (MTDC) technology has developed rapidly in recent years. The feasibility and superiority of MMC-MTDC transmission system are effectively illustrated through a large number of practical projects, which provides technical support for long-distance and large-capacity transmission. There exist three typical topologies of MTDC grids, namely serial, radical and ring type. This paper focuses on the economy and reliability analysis of the three topologies. The case study based on a four-terminal MMC-HVDC system is carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed topological economy and reliability analysis method.
