In this paper, the authors provide a summary of three travel behavior studies that focused on the benefits of advanced traveler information systems (ATIS) in the San Francisco Bay Area. The results reflected the travelers' perspectives and showed that perceived benefits varied depending on the types of information received. It was found that the TravInfo traveler advisory telephone system had great impact on travel behavior than did radio traffic information
