With the increase of number of households in apartment complex, lately, it requires to secure the underground space. To this end, it is necessary to extend the underground space through excavation. In this study, the types and demand of underground space required to the apartment complex are analyzed. And excavation methods are studied to secure the workability, economical efficiency and safety. Especially, to assess the structural safety of the method considering the safety and workability underground excavation using the hybrid beam system. From the experiment, the compressive strength was depended on the size of bearing plate. However, there was no difference at stiffness even if the size of bearing plate increased. In the case of same bearing plate, the strength decreased corresponding to the increase of width of the composite beam.
