An experimental investigation of the behaviour of a spherical ionization cum vacuum chamber

A spherical chamber used in an experimental study of the saturation characteristics of an irradiated vacuum chamber and an ionization chamber is described. The measures adopted to minimize the distortion of the radial field in the instrument and to maintain a vacuum of 10 μtorr are outlined. The results obtained from the use of the apparatus are presented and critically discussed in the light of recent work in this field.
