Sl : The mathcmatical model ofccllular action potcn iKi l and its undcrlying ionic currents developed by hiebe and Bcuckeimann was modiiled and adapted to t runsmmal mcasurements of ionic currents in human \cnincular cells. Furthermore transmural dififerences observed in canine ventricular myocardium were incorporated in the model. The underlying anatomical structme considers results from measurement of fibre orientation m human cardiac tissue. The presented heterogeneous model of the left ventricular wall reproduces regional differences in ionic current characteristics and muselc tlbrc orienlation. Criterion of quality is the transmural electrocardiogram measured in hearts compared to that calculated by the model. Pathology in form of the long-QT syndrome is simulated with results corresponding to measurements.
