An extremal problem on the space of positive definite matrices

The Problem discussed here is to minimize functions of positive definite matrices of the form where z1 …wm are given column vectors in C(n) The infinimum of f(R) is found, and necessary and sufficient conditions for f(R) to have a minimum are established. The case in which R is restricted to real positive definite matrices is discussed.
