A method was developed for determining the condensation coefficient β of component B in reactions of the type β is measured by studying the rate of exchange of isotopically marked on the surface of . For the method to be applicable, component B must be present as a dimer (or higher) in the gas. The condensation coefficients of and were measured using this method, employing N15 nitrogen isotope. The condensation coefficients thus measured, for , and for , compare favorably with values obtained by conventional methods where the kinetic pressure is compared with the equilibrium pressure.
