Tunable Bulk Acoustic Reflection Gratings in Neodymium Pentaphosphate

This paper presents a newly-discovered tunable bulk a coustic wave reflection grating in neodymium pentaphosphate (NPP). The arrays consist of a uniformly periodic array of ferroelastic domain walls which extend through the bulk of a single c rystal of NPP. The calculated amplitude reflection coefficient of a longitudinal acoustic wave from a single "a"-type domain wall is 6.06% at normal incidence.
