Forward Search Approach using Power Search Algorithm (FSA-PSA) to solve Dynamic Economic Load Dispatch problems

Dynamic Economic Load Dispatch (DELD) is one of the important nonlinear constrained optimization problems in the operation of the power system. DELD particularly concentrates in total fuel cost minimization on satisfying the operational constraints and also it determines the most suitable combination of energy outputs for all of the generators for a selected time frame. A forward search approach based Power Search Algorithm (FSA-PSA) is used to solve the problem of minimizing the fuel cost with reduced time. The proposed PSA-FSA is validated on 5 and 15 unit system considering transmission losses and 10 unit system neglecting transmission losses to prove its novelty. This algorithm serves as a strategy to this trouble by overcoming the issue of getting lock at the nearby minimal cost. From the results obtained, it is observed that the proposed FSA-PSA is able to generate quality results that outperform the compared algorithms with reduced fuel cost.
