Skill Oriented Planning of Semi Automated Assembly Systems

Abstract One sort of semi automated assembly systems are those with humans and robots both working in the same assembly system or line. Planning a semi automated assembly line means to allocate the assembly processes on humans and robots and optimise the operating sequence. At the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation, Stuttgart, Germany, a method and a software tool have been developed for the planning of an operating sequence of a semi automated assembly line which is optimised in terms of skills of humans, technical skills of robots and the cycle time.
