Study on HIV/syphilis infections among men who have sex with men and their behavioral feature

Objective To investigate the stauts of HIV/syphilis infection among men who have sex with men(MSM)and high risk behaviors related to HIV/AIDS among them in Shenzhen city so as to provide evidence for prevention of HIV/STD.Methods RDS(Respondent-driven sampling)was used for face to face interviewing of 300 MSM and blood samples were taken to test for detection of HIV/syphilis infection.Results The infectioin rates of HIV,syphilis and HIV/syphilis co-infection were 7.0%,12.0%,and 2.9%.The rate of condom use in the last sexual activity was 65.3% in homosexual MSM,and 48.9% in heterosexual MSM.Conclusion The infection of HIV/syphilis is severe and high risk sexual behaviors were ubiquitous among MSM in Shenzhen city,and the measures for control local HIV/STD(sexually transmitted diseases)among MSM should be strengthened.
