Spectral Efficiency Analysis of Massive MIMO Systems

In cellular systems, massive MIMO is the rising innovation to achieve large data rate communication. It utilizes enormous number of transmitter antennas at the base station and can bring about ten to twenty times enhancement in area throughput. Spectral efficiency is one of the important performance measures that needs to be considered while enhancing throughput in massive MIMO systems. In this paper, we study uplink spectral efficiency of massive MIMO systems employing different values of system parameters and linear receiving techniques. The impact of pilot reuse factor, number of users and coherence block length is also investigated. The presented simulation results can be used to estimate the spectral efficiency of massive MIMO systems employing different values of system parameters and receiving techniques for 5G wireless.
