Camelina alyssum was a weed of flax cultivations. The area of its distribution encompassed Central Europe and western Asia. In Poland the species widely occurred in the lowlands and lower mountain locations. In Lower Silesia it occurred frequently, especially in the central part of the lowland and in the Sudetes Foreland. In the 80-ties of the 20 century it became a rare weed across the whole Europe. In Lower Silesia after 1945 it was noted only at 2 localities. After 1960, the species has not been noted in the region, that is why, alike in the other parts of the country, in Lower Silesia the species was found extinct.
