Tuberculosis of the lower genitourinary tract: Ultrasonography as an aid to diagnosis and treatment

Tuberculous infection of the lower genitourinary tract is rare in the developed countries. However, sporadic cases still occur and since tuberculosis is a progressive disease, significant morbidity and mortality may result if it is not diagnosed early and treated appropriately.' We present the ultrasonic findings in a patient with tuberculosis in the lower genitourinary tract in whom ultrasonography was a useful tool in establishing the diagnosis and treating a paraprostatic abscess.
