A novel slot antenna for WLAN applications

Based on the theory of slot antenna, a tri-band (2.4G/5.2G/5.8G) patch antenna with three slots has been designed, fabricated, and measured in this paper. To achieve separate three bands, the antenna consists of two semi-circular gaps, which have lead to multiple resonant modes, and a U-slot, which is located nearby the feed point to separate the mode. The key structure parameters are analyzed and optimized. The measurement results show good agreement with simulation. The antenna has the advantages of separate adjusting of bands, novel structure, lightweight, low cost and great compatibility. It is suitable for WLAN applications.
