Planning in Interplace

This book focuses on how urban design and planning are related to the changes in so-called exposed suburban metropolitan areas, areas built in the period of mass housing during the sixties and seventies. The empirical material comprise an evaluation of a national area-based funding programme in Sweden, the Local Development Agreements, aimed at social inclusion and sustainable development. The research question addresses the roles of the local employees responsible for implementation of the programme. What can the field of planning learn from the case study if implementation of the funding programme is related to national policies on social inclusion and sustainable development, as well as to the needs and opinions of the citizens? This book turns to researchers with an interest in interdisciplinary evaluation and research, but also to practitioners, e.g. at town planning departments or other municipal institutions, involved in processes aimed at sustainable urban development.
