Flexible and Configurable Steel Plant Scheduling System

Abstract Steel plant scheduling is very complex, particularly because of the multitude of products and a large variety of possible steel plant configurations and production rules. In this paper, we will present how the steel plant scheduling model based on the one reported in Harjunkoski and Grossmann (2001) has been generalized and adapted to be applied to a real production environment. Besides minor adjustments to the mathematical model, the work involves advanced software development and interface definition as well as implementation and testing.
