Computer simulation and predicting dangerous forest fire behaviour

simulation and predicting of forest fire behaviour to savepeoplès lives and prevent large damages of property and environment caused by the fire. The forest fire simulator Farsite adapted for real conditions in Central European forests was used for the computer simulation of one especially tragic forest fire in the Slovak Paradise National Park (Slovakia). The experience achieved and simulation results allow to predict and analyse potential fire danger and specific fire behaviour in the investigated region. Several interesting recent results on predicting dangerous tendencies of the fire propagation under the meteorological, fuel and terrain conditions similar to the ones during the mentioned fire are presented.
